Knitting, knitting, knitting

Knitting, knitting, knitting...what fun! Okay, Santa's workshop is in high gear...and laughing all the way! Ho HO Ho.

This is for a wonderful new little girl, a mere 6 weeks old at the moment. This will keep her warm and stylish! It was a quick knit and it feels soooo soft. Love the yarn. I added the little crochet flower on the hat and the icord to hold the mittens. I know my child had a habit of taking things like mittens and socks off. Can't risk loosing these!

Next up...more in-progress works...

This is a hat for my son. He has strick instructions, it must be soft, red, and washable. So...here is his hat about half done. It is in a cotton / acrylic mix and he loves the color. I just hope it fits and is stretchy enough.

And finally, an update on the sock progress. I am almost done with the first and have started about 2" on the second sock. I love the feel and look. It shouldn't take me much to finish these, just been a little pre-occupied. :)

Before I forget, I just want to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for my friends, family, for the country we live in, the opportunities we have and most importantly our freedom. May God Bless Each and Every One of you!

Many Blessings,

Paula

Adding A Little Colour

Hello there...I have done a little decorating...by adding a little colour to my bedroom. I bought about 3 yards of this lovely blue home decor fabric. I made 6" strips and folded them in half and sewed them onto the bottom of this ready made cream bedskirt at the hem sem so it looks tiered down. Then with the remaining fabric I made two pillow shams. I added a little velveteen pillow and hung up on the wall my grandmothers wedding ring quilt. It is only a twin size and in rather poor condition, but I still enjoy looking at it from a distance. If you look closely on the left you will see me in all my youth (yep, my baby picture). Have a wonderful weekend! ~Paula

Socks

I have officially re-started my first pair of socks. As in this is my second attempt...but I am pumped. I don't think I will take these on the train just yet until I get a wee bit more comfortable with this...just need some weight on them so they don't get all twisted... But, this is cool. The instructions are from Interweave Press and very nicely illustrated. And of course I have my handy bee measuring tape.
These lovely ladies are my people. I am there servant. Their wish is my command for the most part. Notice they are on MY CLOTHES...I was trying to lay out and get read to go...they had other thougths...like "stay for a while, huh???" Notice Elsie the one on the left has her ears back a bit, she was not interested in moving...she was comfortable. It is amazing how much personality these guys have. The one on the right is a cuddle bug (Knickers)...but Elsie - don't touch the fur, unless I want you to...only on her terms. Do you know people like that?

Have a wonderful Friday...hopefully more sock progress to show soon.
Many blessings,
Paula :)

Friday saying...

"Life is a grindstone, and whether it grinds you down or polishes you up is for you and you alone to decide." anonymous

Sometimes life grinds a little harder on you than you would like...but in the end it was just a rough spot that needed a little dressing.

One thing that I really see now is more the little things...oh they mean so much to me.

I would have some pictures of my recent endeavor, but alas I shipped off with a bow and forgot to photograph. I made some lovely knitted wash cloths for two new bouncing baby girls!

Have a truly lovely weekend!

Pictures of Felting Project

Ta Da!!! Okay it took long enough...actually it has been finished for a while, just didn't get it here due too much stuff going on. :)

It is about 10" long and 4" wide. I made nice long straps.

After washing in hot water until desired results, I let dry. The purse dried with a towel in it to help shape.

Before it was completely dry I inserted large knitting needles where the straps would go and then let dry.

Then I inserted the long strap, tied in a french knot and voila! Finished! I just love how it turned out! Now I am making a little wallet with the left over yarn to put inside! If you are interested in the pattern, let me know. I haven't been sure if I would publish or not...

After the wallet I am on to knitting socks...yes. Crazy, but I can't wait! It will be a great project on the train.

Thanks Marian for the assistance!

Have a super day!

Long time no blog...

To say a lot has been going on in my life would be an understatement. To say that I have had to focus my efforts elsewhere is fairly accurate.

I have not stopped creating and I will post a few of my newer projects very soon. I am very excited about my first felting project!!!

I think from all the rain we have been having in Texas that we all but sprouted web feet...

Have a blessed day!

Celebrating!!!

Well I woke up to this...lovely sign made by one of my dear friend, Karen, and her daughter Kelley! That was just the start of a great day! A message in chalk greeted me on the way to my car that was, well, decorated as well! I have to say that it definitely put miles of smiles on my face starting my new decade! Thanks Karen and Kelley! It was a great day! And the celebrating continued as I received a lovely bouquet of lavendar flowers from another well wishing friend! The mail box flooded with cards and now a gaggle of friends to have a wonderful meal! I guess 40 ain't so bad! :)

I have to pause and say a sincere "thank you" to my friends! ~Paula
